Scott “Matchmaker” Michaels
Football. Brands. Ownership. Opportunity.
Scott “Matchmaker” Michaels is a British entrepreneur, football operator and writer whose career has been built around identifying value that others overlook — then connecting the people, capital, brands and ideas capable of unlocking it.
He founded Hairbond in 2008, led the revival of historic British sports brand Stylo Matchmakers, became an FA-registered football intermediary working around players, clubs and commercial opportunities, and is now leading the project to rebuild the Los Angeles Aztecs.
Different industries.
Different assets.
The same instinct.
Find the value. Understand why it matters. Connect the pieces. Build something real.

Keys and Gray described Stylo as an “iconic brand” — recognition of a football name once worn by Pelé, George Best, Kevin Keegan, Billy Bremner and other legends of the game.
For a British football brand that had almost disappeared, the appearance put Stylo back in front of an international football audience.

LOS ANGELES AZTECS
The next chapter is bigger.
Scott is now working to bring the Los Angeles Aztecs back into modern American football.
The original Aztecs were North American Soccer League champions and later fielded some of the biggest names ever to play the game, including Johan Cruyff and George Best.
The new project is being built differently.
The aim is not to manufacture another franchise and then search for an audience.
It is to recover an existing football identity, build a community around it and find the right combination of league, location, capital, supporters and commercial partners to give it a sustainable future.
The project is currently at venture stage.
That matters.
History creates an opportunity. It does not do the work for you.

THE STORY BEHIND “THE MATCHMAKER”
The nickname came from football.
The philosophy became much bigger.
Scott’s career has repeatedly involved finding things that are valuable but disconnected.
A product without a brand.
A heritage name without a modern business.
A player without the right club.
A club without the right investor.
An investor without the right opportunity.
A football identity without a home.
That is the gap where the Matchmaker operates.
Hairbond was built after Scott recognised demand from behind a salon chair.
Stylo Matchmakers was revived after he recognised that decades of football history had been left commercially dormant.
Football agency showed him that having an asset is not enough. Value is only realised when the right interests align.
The Los Angeles Aztecs bring those lessons together on a much larger scale.
Football.
Heritage.
Ownership.
Property.
Capital.
Community.
Story.
Different pieces. One opportunity.
WRITING & COMMENTARY
Scott also writes independently about the forces operating behind football and business — ownership, brands, agents, leagues, supporter power, investment and the economics of the modern game.
His work is deliberately independent.
Sometimes supportive.
Sometimes critical.
Always interested in the question underneath the headline:
Who owns the value, who controls access to it, and who gets left out?

ABOUT SCOTT
Scott “Matchmaker” Michaels is a British entrepreneur, football operator and writer.
He founded professional grooming brand Hairbond in 2008 before leading the modern revival of Stylo Matchmakers, the historic British sports brand associated with players including Pelé, George Best and Kevin Keegan.
His career subsequently moved deeper into football. As an FA-registered intermediary, he worked around players, clubs, agents, owners and commercial opportunities.
Today his work increasingly centres on football ownership, overlooked sporting assets, brand recovery and the Los Angeles Aztecs project.
ScottMatchmaker.co.uk brings those worlds together.
Not as a CV.
As a thesis.
The best opportunities are rarely the obvious ones.
